Judith Evans
Judith Evans' Resume

Judith Evans specializes in biotechnology, biochemistry, and medical patents. While an executive vice president for a biotech start-up, she managed a patent portfolio, wrote and prosecuted patent applications, and handled patent litigation in federal court. She has worked at several well-known patent law firms since earning her J.D. from George Mason University School of Law and being admitted to the Virginia and Washington, D.C., bars. Before becoming a patent attorney, Dr. Evans worked at the National Institutes of Health in cellular neurobiology, the field in which she earned a Ph.D. from Columbia University. She has been published in Science Magazine and in 1979 was awarded the John S. Newberry Prize at Columbia for excellence in vertebrate zoology.




Eugene Molinelli
Eugene Molinelli's Resume

Eugene Molinelli's areas of expertise include sensors, semiconductor fabrication, oceanography, and computer software. He has experience writing appeal briefs and conducting oral arguments before the U.S. Board of Patent Appeals. He also has been invited to several universities to deliver a session on intellectual property protection as it relates to computer software, the focus of his J.D. (with high honors) from George Mason University School of Law. Prior to becoming a patent attorney, Dr. Molinelli earned a Ph.D. in physical oceanography at Columbia University, participating in fieldwork to Antarctica and the Arctic Circle. As an oceanographer, he specialized in statistical modeling through computer programming, involving the design of hierarchical databases and sophisticated data, signal, and image processing algorithms. His work won several federal Small Business Innovation Research grants and contributed to his company's selection for Virginia's Technology Trailblazer Award.




Counsel

Martha Cassidy recently joined the firm as Counsel and brings another Ph.D. to our team. With undergraduate and graduate degrees in chemistry and biology, respectively, she has a strong background in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals which she will apply to drafting and prosecuting patent applications. Martha has almost two decades in patent law including work on due diligence, drafting freedom to operate and validity opinions, interferences and litigation. Resume
